Lextar to Hire 1,300 Employees in 2H10
Lextar Electronics, a maker of LED epitaxy wafers, chips, packaging and lighting applications, is expected to hire 1,300 employees in the second half of 2010 for its operations in Taiwan and China.
Lextar Electronics is an LED company founded by AU Optronics in 2008. The reason for Lextar’s hiring spree is to accommodate the company's rapid capacity build-up in the upcoming quarters. Its new plant in Chunan, Taiwan will go online in the fourth quarter of 2010 and another facility in Suzhou of China's Jiangsu Province will begin pilot run in the first quarter of 2011. Lextar Electronics plans to increase its number of MOCVD machines from 30 sets currently to 130 sets by the end of 2011 in Taiwan and China.
Lextar will add 300 positions for various functions in marketing, research and development, human resources, finance and manufacturing, and 1,000 workers on its production lines.
Lextar exceeded NT$1 billion in monthly revenues for the first time in June 2010 at NT$1.03 billion up 35% on month. Lextar’s outstanding performance in June sales has brought the company to one of the top three LED makers in Taiwan. The company has ambition in lighting market
