Lextar headquarters obtained certification of the first golden-class green factory in Taiwan.
Recently certified as golden-class green building by Ministry of Interior, Executive Yuan, Lextar became the first LED company with green facility that occupied the widest space in Taiwan. This factory was built with the eco-friendly concept of “triple balance” that demonstrated Lextar’s determination on enhancing its green competitiveness.
Lextar headquarters was established in July 2009 since when it was the greatest LED factory in Taiwan. An eco-friendly “triple balance” concept was applied as early as at the very beginning of design. First, “Earthwork balance” was introduced to optimize the cut-and-fill work. The waste dust was recycled later on for a green belt that surrounded the factory. Besides, rainwater recycling system was implemented to manage the water consumption with “Hydro balance”. This included the collection of rainwater from the rooftop and balcony to supply the surrounding green belt. Aside from the water recycle systems, an energy conservation scheme was also in place to achieve a “balance of energy emitted and absorbed”. This building was covered by special building materials that insulate the factory against heat loss in winter and stop heat from entering in summer. |
Furthermore, the company initiated an underground air tube through which outdoor air was drawn in for cooling, thus to reduce the electricity consumption. On the other hand, a sensor device that detected background temperatures, along with an automated computing system that controlled the air-conditioning load, optimized the utilization of energy. LED lighting labeled with own brand was incorporated throughout this building. To allow rainwater to pass through, permeable pavement was used on the periphery of the factory. Lextar has proved the novelty of triple-balance successful and was recognized as the first golden-class LED factory in Taiwan. This concept is currently used to build a duplicate at Suzou China.
Lextar headquarters holds the most manufacturing capacity of Epitaxy and Chip Island wide. This building has won several awards for its eco-friendly operation, including “great construction award” by Environmental Protection Bureau of Hsinchu City in 2008 before it passed third-party accreditation for greenhouse gases inventory in late 2010. Soon in May 2011, Lextar was nominated “green procurement award” by the city government and Taiwan golden-class certification later in July. These awards not only recognized Lextar’s contribution to environmental sustainability whilst enhancing its green competitiveness, but also showed evidence of Lextar’s eligibility to work with global brands. Lextar will continue to provide eco-friendly products with high efficiency and cost-attractiveness across applications of LED lighting and backlighting.
